I drink Folgers Instant Coffee. More Importantly, I reuse the jars for storing all kinds of little stuff in my garage. They have wide tops so you can get stuff in and out of them. They are see through so you can see which jar you need to pull off the shelf. They are stackable, and have always been available in several sizes to suit the needs of everyone who needs to store things like nails and screws and nuts and bolts and pop rivets and all the other things that live on the shelves in the garage.
Now Folgers has switched to a new jar that has none of the features of their old jars. it is taller and thinner and is narrow in the middle like it's trying to invoke thoughts of having a perfect female figure or something (but was probably inspired by a need to make a jar that contains less while looking like it possibly contains more, or conversely contains less while making you think you will magically be slimmer if you pay the same price for it but get less for your money...I dunno) BUT, I was somewhat annoyed at Folgers for screwing up my storage system. So I wrote them a note on their website. I was further annoyed to discover that in order to send them a comment about their product, one is required to give them name, address, CSZ, phone number, email address, and date of birth.
So the following is what I wrote to them. I suggest you all do the same. www.folgers.com . Click on the contact us link at the bottom of the page.
"Apparently your company is not aware that there are many people who buy your instant and instant decaf as much for the jars as the coffee. Now you've changed them, and all of the people who use the empty jars for shop storage are out of luck. Well not really, we can switch to Maxwell House jars, which aren't quite as good but close, and much better than your new jars. Sometimes you have to look at what we do with the empties when considering packaging decisions. I personally know several people who have shelves in their garage stacked with Folgers Instant jars. We're all disappointed in your decision and our brand loyalty is much more about the package your coffee came in than it is about your instant coffee. Let's face it, if we were going to be picky about our coffee we wouldn't be buying instant in the first place.
PS: requiring my name, address, phone number, email, and DOB is a bit intrusive just to make a comment on a product, don't you think? Next you will require a SSN as well I guess."

I copied and pasted and added some remarks of my own, and sent it to them.
thank you. I'm not really into consumer movements but this a cause I feel strongly about.
maybe we need to buy their jar making blowmolds and just sell empties at harbor Freight.
What's this WE stuff? You're the one in love with their jars. I prefer 8 O'clock coffee, it comes in bags.
As for selling stuff to Harbor Freight, we'd go broke in a hurry with their low prices and my salary requirements.
